In Mourning

Yes, Alina's dear bunny died last night. Poor Mallace, she tried so hard to hold back her tears when I told her that her bunny had died. She kept saying "I know she's not dead. I'm going to go see her. She's not dead." before bursting into tears. I almost cried with her, it was soooooooooo sad.

Granted, she hadn't taken such good care of the creature and was more content to know that it existed than to care for it, heh. But indubitably she loved it.

We made a little grave for it with a cross and "tombstone" and she collected some flowers to put on it. Oh well, one more pet added to our cemetery. This rabbit actually survived for a pretty long time -- one whole year. Her last bunny lasted only a couple of weeks.

By the way, Ange, the rose bush you gave her is still alive, heh.

Firsts

Friday night my Baby took me out to a place where they serve Japanese food, which was a first for me being that I was never into the fishy thing. He on the other hand looooves it. I figured I might as well try something new, even though it goes against my nature. Also, I had good memories of the yummy things my sister Ange made for us when she was here.

Needless to say, the food was deeeelicious! Oh yeah, and I drank saké for the first time. I definitely prefer a caipi, but I thought the saké went well with the fish mush :).

AND I couldn't get the hang of eating with chopsticks! Well, not for the bigger things because they'd just slip from between my poorly held chopsticks. I had to resort to using a fork and knife, hehe.

I had a great time though! Thanks, Love!

Disclaimer

The internet hasn't been working on my laptop for the past few days and so I wasn't able to post things earlier and they sort of piled up until today when I was finally able to use a comp that has internet and that wasn't being used (a miracle, really).

Some nutty behavior:

Game morning! Since it was a dreary, rainy morning, I made hot chocolate for the monkeys and naturally, they really liked that. Alina got all bummed out because she lost the first game, but at least she won the second one or else she would've been on a bummer for the rest of the morning.

Sunday pool fun!

A Wedding

Friends of ours got married on Saturday and had the wedding ceremony and celebration here at home which happened to take place a few hours after our Children's Day celebration at the Project. Very tiring day, but fun and wonderful as well.

My parents conducted the ceremony:

We sang a couple of songs (oh yes, my mom lent me her lovely silk frock):

Children's Day

For this year's Children's Day celebration at our social project, we set up a "cinema" for the 40+ kids, prepared snacks and goodies, aside from the usual cake, and served a hot-dog lunch. Also, several people sponsored books which we distributed to the kids.

They had a great time pigging out. Some of them commented that they hadn't eaten that much since last Christmas, which is when we hosted a Christmas party for them.

Some pics from the event, etc.

Bit of News

Just got back from the movies and I don't feel as tired as I should be, thanks to this great daylight saving time thingie that started this weekend. It's screwing up mine and Laura's body clocks ... quite tragic!

Oh, yes, Kim and Kalen arrived from Mexico last Thursday and Alina has been very happy with her new friend. He's a year and 2 weeks older than her and a very sociable little fellow.

Alina on the other hand, even though she's happy to have a friend, somehow hasn't gotten over her preschooler phase of bonking a playmate on the head with a toy when they do something she doesn't like.

She's so big that sometimes I forget she's only 5. Not like that means that she can get away with beating up the little guy, hehe.

Well, I'm really hoping that they'll get along great because it's been a while since she's had someone closer to her age and she sure could stand to learn how to interact harmoniously with her kind, ha! He plays dollhouse with her though, and she told me today that she's happy about that.

Ah well, I better go to bed and try to get some sleep anyway because I know that I'll be wiped tomorrow morning if I don't.

Happenings and TONS of Pics of the Girls

A sad happening: It all started today when Alina was coming back to the house from the classroom and she found a tiny baby bird on the ground by the pool. We tried to feed it, but it was too small and didn't care to eat. There wasn't much we could do for it, so we put it back in its nest up in a coconut tree and hoped it'd be o.k.

Later during the day, I passed by the tree and found the bird on the floor again, so I once again stuck it back in the nest. Very heroic of me, I know. Well, after all our attempts to save this little bird, there was a storm this afternoon (flooded most of the house) and it killed the poor birdie. I found it dead in a puddle under the tree. Very sad since it was such a helpless creature, sniff, sniff.

On to happier things ...

A Sunday morning:

"Aha! I escaped from my towel!"

"Hello!"

Tasty phone:

 A rainy afternoon ...

Messy-haired creatures:

A pleasant happening: having a little family dinner to celebrate our 14 years in Belo (yeah, I just had to close my eyes when the photo was being taken):

An unpleasant fact was that I had a cold:

Another pleasant dinner: this time with everyone else.

Very important: I still had a horrid cold!

Yum-yum! (Alina made little "name cards" for everyone)

Our very own Wonder Woman:

Ready to go ...

... pester the cat

(Alina's caption) The two sisters:

Another fun happening was that Alina and I made a tent in her room (draped some sheets around) and prepared some goodies to have a wannabe slumber party.

The little pig was invited to the eating part of the evening:

Sweet Alina made this bouquet just for me and also took the picture for me to post here (with the wise remark: "I feel good when I give something without wanting something back!").

A very unpleasant happening: the sweet child (the younger one) has been exploring her artistic side ... in the wrong places! Such as her sister's schoolbook, the desk, the wall ...

One of the crime scenes:
