Lil' Traveler

Alina traveled down south for a week-long visit with her dad in the cold city of Porto Alegre. It was the first time she traveled by herself and she was so brave. Thank God she had a good flight and made it there safe and sound. We miss her so much already! Thankfully, she'll be back next Monday ... school starts on Wednesday.

Farm Animals

We took the girls to a small exhibition of [mostly] mini farm animals. Alina loooooooved the bunnies and fed a cow for the first time. Laura prefered to check out the animals from afar whilst snacking on popcorn.

Of Gifts and Rum?

Went to the Central Market today with the Moother to buy some things to send to my brother, sisters, in-laws, nieces, and nephews in the States. We finally found this divine cachaça ... hope they'll like it.

The adorable little bamboo cups are to add to my brother's collection of shot glasses and the like:

July Vacations

Yesterday was the last day of school for the kids and my last day of work (supposedly) for this semester ... yay! That means we have two weeks to spend with each other, have fun, and de-junk and organize our things. :)

We've already planned several fun things to do during our vacations such as ice-skating, going to the movies, going to the theater, going to the amusement park, going to a mini farm exhibition, having a picnic, roasting hot-dogs and marshmallows ... We'll see what we actually get around to doing.

During Laurie's last week of school they had a special activity each day. One of the days the kids could go dressed up, so these pics are from that day.

Cinderella making faces:

Alina's best friend came home with her from school yesterday and spent the afternoon here. We roasted hot-dogs and marshmallows (a first for her friend) as planned, and naturally, the kids had a great time. My camera decided not to work properly, so all of the pics came out horrible.

Festa Junina #2

The much anticipated party at Laurie's school finally happened last week. Hurrah! Her school is rather big, so they decided to have one in the morning for the morning students and one in the afternoon for the afternoon students. That was kind of disappointing because it meant a pretty short party, but we were still able to have fun and enjoy all the goodness of a Festa Junina.

All of the groups performed a dance, but due to being sick the previous week, Laurie missed out on most of the practices and she didn't care to dance when it was her classes' turn. She prefered to play outside in the many fun toys that had been set up for the party and gobble down the treats that were served.

I didn't take so many pics, but here are the few that were taken.
