Easter Sunday = Lots of Chocolate

Ever since Alina was old enough to understand the basic concepts of money, she's bought her own Easter egg with her allowance. This year Laurie was big enough to do the same and so they each chose their egg and bought it. Of course, they ended up with more than one egg thanks to Daddy and Grandma and Grandpa, heh.

Unlike last year, it was a beautiful sunny day, thus making it possible for them to have the egg hunt outside. This year Easter landed on the same weekend as another national holiday so we're having a great extended holiday. So awesome because then I have extra time to study and work on my school papers, three of which I need to turn in next month.

We went over to some friends' place for a barbecue on Saturday, and on Sunday, after the egg hunt, we went to my grandparents' place for lunch. So much yummy-ness for one weekend!

Second Tooth

This little monkey's second tooth fell out on the 13th, exactly 5 months after she lost her first one and almost 5 years since her first one came in. Amazing, I know. :D

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

So, this is the third year we participate in Minas International's Easter egg hunt and picnic. We had a lovely afternoon of games, food, and chatting at the nearby park. As usual, Alina had a book on her which she read for most of the time. This year she didn't care to join in on the games ... her loss, heh. Laurie enjoyed everything, especially the yummy cupcakes which were served. It was overcast the entire time, though thankfully it didn't rain.

Amusement Park Party

Here are a few pictures from a birthday party we went to last month. It was Laura's classmate, Iasmin's, birthday and she celebrated it with some of her friends from school at the nearby amusement park.

Aside from a couple of tired, whining party-goers, it was a fun evening. Thankfully the park was pretty empty so the kids were able to go on all their favorite rides a few times.

Laurie crashed out on my lap before the singing and cake serving ritual. I took some home for her though and she enjoyed it the next day.

About Birds

When I was leaving the house on my way to work the other day, I was pleasantly surprised at the sight of almost a dozen different kinds of birds chirping (and the other sounds that birds make) and doing bird things like catching bugs and small reptiles, eating fruit, pecking at things, etc. It's not surprising to see lots of birds around here. What was surprising though, and which is something I'd never seen here, was that they were all concentrated in this one part of the yard.

I didn't have my camera on me, as usual, and my phone wouldn't have done the spectacle justice. So I just stood there and enjoyed the loveliness for a while before about half of them flew away.

Here are pictures of the birds and their names in Portuguese, courtesy of different sites. :D
