Tired, Sick Me.

Well, it goes like this: I got a nasty cold (including a throbbing headache, sore eyes and throat, and a plugged nose) Monday-Tuesday. I've been sleeping extra terribly due to this cold and I've been waking up extra early with Gabriel's alarm clock (which he doesn't wake up with and which then wakes the baby up = end of sleep).

We had a meeting last night which ended later than usual and then Laura woke up and only went back to sleep a good while later 'cause she also has a cold. Then later this afternoon, in my deteriorated state, I started (and almost completed) the girls' room change, which entailed moving and organizing all of Alina's things, moving and setting up my sister's double bed in her room (thankfully my brother helped me a bit with that), moving beds around in my sisters' room (which was Alina's room), all the while making sure Laura wasn't doing anything too dangerous and constantly reminding Alina to leave her alone because she doesn't like being carried almost by her neck.

After all that, I still had to give the girls dinner, put them to bed, etc., (hence my ultra-tired state). And now I can try to relax.

Naturally, my back is in an awful state, but at least I feel good that the bulk of the room changes is over and now we just need to sand and paint Alina's bed, move Laura's crib into the room, and set things up for the girls.

I got to have a bit of pizza tonight that my brother kindly shared with me (since I helped him make it, heh) and I'll have a beer with my Love when he gets back from the gym (if I don't fall asleep before then).

Funny

Some of Alina's excuses for not being able to do her school this morning (aside from having a cold):

"I'm as tired as a tired wolf that came back from the stream!"

Me: What stream?

"The one he'd fallen into!"

A few seconds later:

"I'm as tired as a bear that fell into a stream and can't swim!"

Me: A bear? Bears swim!

"I mean a bear cub!"

Kinda Old

Another outing my family went on in July. I don't have the pics from the other cameras, but it's ok, I guess, or else there would be thrice as many pics, heh.

Caraça:

Alina and auntie Angelina hiking:

A termite mound:

Laura with her aunt Patricia:

Gabriel and the girls inside the church:

Waiting for the maned wolf to arrive:

The quality of these photos is not good, but you can sort of see two of the wolves. Four of them showed up that night ... totally awesome! Only three showed up at the same time though (can't see the third 'cause it was on the stairs and there wasn't enough light).

Alina at the river beach:

My man relaxing ... beer!!

The bookworm:

The monkey with a handful of sand ready to shove in her mouth:

A pretty garden:

Great! I don't have any pics of us at the waterfalls. Maybe later I'll get them off the other computer and post them.

The Rascal

These pics are from about a month ago.

Alina's "Laura proof" playing spot:

The little typist:

Her favorite spot in the kitchen ('cause it has little magnets that she plays with):

Second favorite spot:

She started walking for good this week (looks like a little drunkard, haha!). We took her for a check-up on Thursday, and she's 2 curves above average (height and weight-wise). She's the proud owner of 6 teeth (dangerous little mouth) and just came down with a fever.

Alina's Lamentations

Alina: I'll never be an artist!!

Me: Why do you say that?

Alina: Because I've been practicing for more than a year and I still can't draw like Miche or Cri! (teens she knows)

Me: Yes, a year is a long time, but practice makes perfect.

Alina sobbing: I don't have any talents! I don't know what to do on my free days, which are Saturday and Sunday because I don't have school, because I don't have any talents. I try and try to think of something to do, but I can't do anything! (she continues sobbing ... quite heartbreaking)

Me: Well, we can come up with ideas of things you can learn how to do during your "free days".

Alina: But I still don't have any talents! I want to be able to do everything! (continues sobbing)

Me: But you already know how to do so many things and you're getting quite good at them. Even if you can't draw as well as you'd like to doesn't mean you can't do anything. Look at me! I can't draw for the life of me.

Alina: Bob, look, I'm already 5 and I don't have any talents! (for the hundreth time ... tears continue)

Me: Most people only discover their talents or gifts when their older. People like Mozart are an exception (she'd recently read about him).

Alina: But I wish I already had my talents!

I proceed to tell her the parable of the talents and explain how she should just be faithful with the gifts God's given her, etc., and in time she'll find out which talents she has. It doesn't help much, but we end up striking a deal to discuss this in depth when she's 14 because she's still too young to be worrying about this, sigh.

The kind of trials she goes through! I don't even want to think about what her issues will be when she's a teenager, ha!
